Versatility in the Industry: Where Does ELASTOSIL® A07 Excel?

In modern industry, materials must be reliable, durable, and multifunctional. ELASTOSIL® A07 TRANSLUCENT is a multipurpose sealant and coating material that performs perfectly in demanding technical environments. As a ready-to-use, one-component system , this product is highly effective in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) applications, among others. Its cured coating remains flexible under extreme thermal conditions, working reliably in the range from -40°C up to +180°C. An additional advantage that significantly streamlines production processes is its excellent primerless adhesion to many substrates.

To achieve the perfect silicone coating, it is necessary to approach the application process appropriately. ELASTOSIL® A07 is a flowable, solvent-based dispersion. It is characterized by a low viscosity of 8000 mPa-s, which allows for exceptionally precise work. The material can be applied to surfaces using several techniques: by dipping, spraying, brushing, or coating. Depending on the needs of a specific project, the thickness of the target layer can be easily modified. To obtain a thinner coating, simply dilute the product with suitable solvents, such as toluene or white spirit, while thicker coatings are realized by multiple step coating.

The curing process itself takes place at room temperature by reaction with air humidity. An advantage of this system is the short skin forming time of just 5.0 min. If the technological process requires it, the curing rate can be accelerated on exposure to carbon dioxide concentration above 1%. When working with this product, however, safety considerations are extremely important. During cure, it splits off an organic amine. Furthermore, because the product contains about 25% of solvent , it is absolutely necessary to use suitable equipment and take precaution measures due to the solvent vapours.
