In today's demanding industrial environment, engineers and maintenance specialists seek materials that combine reliability, safety, and versatility. Instead of multiplying inventory levels for a dozen different sealants, production facilities are increasingly opting for universal solutions, such as the ready-to-use, one-part ELASTOSIL N 2199 RTV-1 silicone rubber. Confirmation of its top quality is meeting the physical requirements of the stringent military standard MIL-A-46146, Group I, Type I. This means that this material exhibits excellent mechanical properties and guarantees parameter stability in advanced technical applications.

True optimization of production processes relies on standardization, and as a multipurpose grade for bonding and sealing, this material perfectly proves itself in many key sectors. The implementation of ELASTOSIL N2199 paste onto the production line directly translates into plant efficiency due to its unique chemical profile. Thanks to the neutral-cure system, the product is completely acid-free, solvent-free, and non-corrosive, making it fully safe for delicate electronic systems. This silicone cures at room temperature on exposure to atmospheric moisture, and the skin forming time is just 15 minutes at a temperature of 23°C and 50% relative humidity. The compact consistency of the paste means that the material is non-slumping, which in turn makes it an ideal solution for formed-in-place-gaskets. An additional advantage that significantly reduces operational costs and time is its excellent adhesion to a broad variety of substrates, achieved without the need for prior use of specialized primers.

After the vulcanization process is complete, the sealant becomes a permanently flexible silicone rubber, ready for highly extreme operating conditions. Its recommended service temperature ranges from -45°C to +180°C, while it demonstrates the ability to be continuously exposed to a temperature of 150°C without the risk of any structural damage. These properties are complemented by an impressive elongation at break of 400%, a hardness of 30 Shore A, and a tensile strength of 2.5 N/mm².
