ELASTOSIL® M 4670 A/B is a high-grade, two-component RTV-2 silicone rubber that vulcanizes through an addition-curing (platinum) system at room temperatureThis product was created for specialized tasks in technical molding where not only precision but, above all, high mold rigidity is requiredAfter curing, the silicone forms a beige vulcanizate with a high hardness of approximately 55 Shore AConsequently, molds made from this material feature high dimensional stability (inherent rigidity), which is crucial when casting heavier elements or when the mold does not have an additional support housing.

Key Properties and Advantages The most important feature of ELASTOSIL® M 4670 A/B is its outstanding chemical resistance to aggressive casting resin components, including epoxy, polyurethane (PU), and polyesterThis makes it the material of choice for the serial production of resin castingsThis silicone is a shrink-free material (linear shrinkage <0.1%), guaranteeing faithful reproduction of the original dimensionsDespite its high hardness, the material maintains good mechanical properties—tear strength is 15 N/mm, and elongation at break is 280%The product is safe for food applications, meeting strict FDA and BfR standards.

Versatile Applications Due to its unique parameters, ELASTOSIL® M 4670 A/B is dedicated to advanced applications:

  • Prototyping and Engineering: Making molds for casting technical resin elements where high dimensional precision is required.

  • Composite Molding: Production of molds for laminating.

  • Reproduction of Models with Undercuts: Casting copies of models that require a rigid mold but possess undercuts (demolding is possible due to appropriate elasticity).

  • Food Industry: Production of food molds (e.g., chocolate, sugar) thanks to food-grade certifications.

Processing and Instructions for Use The silicone requires thorough mixing of components A and B in a 10:1 weight ratioThe mixture has a viscosity of approximately 80,000 mPa·s, providing good flow during pouringThe pot life (operational time) is 90 minutes at 23°C, allowing for calm deaeration and mold fillingThe total curing time (until demolding) is approximately 12 hoursIt should be noted that in this system, the platinum catalyst is contained in component ATo maintain properties, only components from the same production batch should be combined.
