ELASTOSIL® RT 620 A/B – Two-Component RTV-2 Silicone for Molds and Printing Pads

ELASTOSIL® RT 620 A/B is a high-quality, two-component, addition-curing (platinum-catalyzed) RTV-2 silicone designed for precision mold-making and the production of pad printing pads. The material features excellent flow, low viscosity, and fast room-temperature curing without chemical shrinkage.

The product is engineered for applications requiring high flexibility, mechanical strength, and precise detail reproduction. Once cured, it forms a soft, elastic elastomer with very low hardness and high tear resistance, ensuring long service life of the produced components.

ELASTOSIL® RT 620 A/B meets FDA and BfR requirements, making it suitable for food-contact applications.

Product Properties

ELASTOSIL® RT 620 A/B stands out for its excellent flow, which allows for precise mold filling and faithful reproduction of even the finest details. Its low viscosity facilitates easy processing, while the high reactivity of the system ensures fast curing and short demolding times, even when modified with silicone oils.

Curing occurs at room temperature without chemical shrinkage, though the process can be accelerated by applying elevated temperatures. After 24 hours, the material reaches stable mechanical properties while retaining excellent elasticity and tear resistance.

Once cured, the silicone is semi-transparent, and it can be easily color-matched to specific applications using Wacker silicone pigments.

Applications

ELASTOSIL® RT 620 A/B is primarily intended for the production of elastomers used in pad printing. As a base for making printing pads, it provides excellent flexibility, mechanical strength, and dimensional stability, which are critical for consistent printing results.

Thanks to its excellent flow and minimal shrinkage, the material is also suitable for:

• Producing flexible silicone molds

• Casting components that require soft, resilient elastomers

• Applications requiring food contact

• Uses where precise shape and detail reproduction is essential

The hardness can be adjusted by adding silicone oil, allowing further customization of the material properties to suit specific applications.
