Description
Linear, non-reactive polydimethylsiloxane (silicone oil) with a viscosity of approx. 350 mm²/s. Thanks to its chemical structure, it has a significantly better property profile than mineral oils: it is clear, colorless and odorless.
Properties
- Minimal change in physical properties over a wide temperature range
- Excellent water-repellent properties
- Good dielectric properties
- Low surface tension and high surface activity
- Chemically highly inert
- Low solidifying point
- Good solubility in a wide range of organic solvents

WACKER AK silicone fluids of different viscosities are miscible with each other in any ratio, so viscosity can be easily adjusted. The product is non-polar: it is immiscible with water or short-chain alcohols, but soluble in hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, ethers, esters, ketones and higher alcohols. A laboratory test is recommended before first use with a solvent.
Storage: maximum temperature 50 °C (actively cooled transport is not required). The “best use before” date is shown on the batch label.
Industrial product – for pharmaceutical applications the manufacturer recommends the SILFAR® line; for cosmetics, the BELSIL® line. For particularly high heat and shear resistance, specialty grades (AK stab, AK visc, AKC) are available.
