WACKER ELASTOSIL N 2189 is a one-component, neutral-curing RTV-1 silicone based on an alkoxy curing system, designed for professional sealing and bonding of technical components. The material cures at room temperature under the influence of moisture from the air, forming a flexible silicone rubber.
The silicone is characterized by non-sag properties, good adhesion to many substrates without the use of a primer, particularly cast magnesium, and good resistance to mineral oils. Thanks to its flame-retardant properties, it meets the requirements of UL 94 V-0. The recommended operating temperature range is -45°C to +200°C.

household appliances,
-
the railway industry,
-
general technical applications requiring a durable, flexible seal.
Curing and application
ELASTOSIL® N 2189 is supplied as a ready-to-use one-component material. After application, it begins to cure under the influence of atmospheric moisture. A skin forms on the surface after approximately 15–25 minutes, while the rate of further curing depends primarily on temperature and air humidity.
During curing, a small amount of alcohol is released – approximately 3% in total. Appropriate workplace ventilation should therefore be ensured during application.
After complete curing, the silicone can be continuously used at temperatures of up to approximately 180°C, while the technical data sheet specifies a recommended product operating temperature range of up to 200°C.
ELASTOSIL N 2189 is a good choice wherever a one-component, flexible and flame-retardant technical seal is required, particularly in automotive, industrial and machinery applications involving contact with mineral oils and elevated temperatures.
